There are two places I am always drawn to and regularly visit to draw and paint, St. Ives in Cornwall and Lepe Beach on the South coast.
I learnt to print in St Ives over many years of attending the Porthmeor print workshops. I also worked over a year with an artists mentoring group run by the St. Ives school of Painting culminating in an Exhibition at the Penwith Gallery.
Lepe on the Solent, is an inspiring stretch of coastline overlooking the isle of Wight. As well as the numerous species of birdlife to watch and listen to and there are the remnants of the D-day landing sites. The rusting piers, the broken blocks of concrete where the Mulberry Harbours were built, so much of the various rubble is covered in all colours of seaweed. I never tire of returning to work there, drawing , painting in different media and developing the work into print or paintings back in my studio.
