Ceramics
My goal is to make pottery that looks and feels beautiful and has the surface complexity that rewards repeated viewing. I make functional and decorative stoneware, fired with salt and soda in a wood-fired kiln. I generally make vessels - vases, bowls, mugs, jugs, dishes - but I have started to explore the possibilities of abstract ceramic sculpture. Sometimes I decorate my works with marks (impressed, scored, brushed, trailed) which aim to impart a sense of energy and dynamism.
