Hi, many thanks for taking a look at my page. My work is mostly inspired by the landscape and woodlands here in the Hampshire countryside. I am interested in capturing how a place feels and the sense of magic in nature which lies just beyond what we can see. When I begin a new piece of work, I never know what the finished piece will look like, as I enjoy working intuitively and being open to where the marks and colours take me. I work mostly with acrylic, oil pastel, charcoal and pencil, and my paintings often go through many transformations, as I work through a process of adding and taking away, building and removing layers, balancing the colours and composition, until I feel I have captured the place, thought or idea I set out with.
May 2024 will be my first Open Studios, and I'm really looking forward to displaying my work at the museum and meeting other artists and art lovers. I will have a range of paintings available for sale, both framed and unframed and also some miniature 3 x 3 inch artworks too. I hope to see you there!
