Susie’s passion is to combine form, function, and colour, and to share optimism through exploring some of the many possibilities of creating with clay. Turning to the solace of throwing pots in a little garden lean-to studio first transformed in lockdown, she creates ceramic pieces reflecting uplifting seasonal colours. Her work is grounded in living in the moment, cherishing the sacred of the ordinary and holding trust in future possibilities and opportunities. Her ‘in tune’ and optimistic approach yields unique table, home, giftware, and jewellery loved by everyone.
Each pot is a meditation of mind, body, spirit, and soul, centred on hope. Susie shapes clay into vessels, and in the words of Lao Tzu, ‘The space inside holds for you whatever you choose’. Every bespoke piece carries a powerful, encouraging affirmation in its name. Susie’s all-time favourite emblem, the sunflower, carries the mantra ‘Turn to face the sun and let shadows fall’.
Finding alignment with clay on a wheel, combining and transforming the elements into objects of beauty and purpose, spark her inspiration. A lump of clay prepared, mindfully centred, and shaped is a metaphor of hope. Sharing the exquisite table art and costume jewellery resulting from an oft humbling process of perseverance, resilience, grit, and faith is a celebration.
