I really enjoy the process of preparing the surface for my paintings with texture and tone. A white sheet of paper or canvas can be as daunting to the painter as it is for a writer.
I do liketo mix the mediums in the paintings I am working on , using watercolour and inks, collage and pastels in my mark-making. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, and for me it makes my painting more interesting especially in my still life work.
