As a teacher with Berkshire Printmakers, I run silkscreen printing workshops in schools, colleges, art centres and for private groups. We have taught silkscreen printing in diverse locations from the Ashmolean Museum to Carfest music festival.
Alongside this I develop my own practice. Growing up in the 70/80s I find inspiration from children's books, I love the Miffy series with the bright flat primary colours and strong simple graphic images.
In contrast, I am intrigued by the printing process of visual colour mixing using Cyan, Magenta, Yellow to create a whole new world of kaliedescopic colours and complex images. I enjoy the versatility to print on different surfaces, my first experience of printmaking was on fabric but I am now equally fascinated by experimental techniques I can employ printing on paper.
As part of Open Studios 2023 I showed "Ghost Letters " a series of prints inspired by decorative fairground fonts and washed out signs on buildings, advertising a past history. This series reflects the disappereance of the tradional "hands on" printing process to be replaced by the computer generated digital art. In 2024 I will continue developing this theme, in addition to showing my printed scarves, journals and cards.
