My paintings are inspired by the beauty and variety of the landscape. Walking through the environment inspires me to look at the quality of the natural world I observe, from the marks of the hermit crab in the sand, the glint of water on a pebble and the colours on a tree. Untimely experiences in life allow us to slow down and be mindful of our presence on the Earth. There is spirituality and drama in the unrelenting landscape; through gradual shifting of light and clouds, the marks of the hedgerows and winding paths.
My work ranges from plein air work capturing the marks and quality of the light to sustained large oil paintings in the studio. I am passionate about pushing the boundaries of landscape painting and continue to challenge my skills and practice.
