Buick Mackane – Takeover 2026

I am excited to be exhibiting with ceramicist Rebecca Maynard at this vibrant central Newbury location. Alongside our individual work, we will also be showing a new collaborative range of hand screen-printed ceramics.

Alongside this, I continue to develop my own artistic practice. Growing up in the 70s and 80s, I draw inspiration from the children’s books of my childhood—especially the Miffy series, with its bright, flat primary colours and strong, simple graphic imagery.

I enjoy the versatility of screenprinting, and this is reflected in the range of surfaces I print on, including textiles, leather, and ceramics. I will be exhibiting printed scarves, journals, and cards.

Although my first experience of printmaking was on fabric, I am now equally absorbed by the experimental techniques I can explore when printing on paper.

As a teacher with Berkshire Printmakers, I run silkscreen printing workshops in schools, colleges, arts centres, and for private groups. We have taught silkscreen printing in a wide range of settings—from the Ashmolean Museum to the CarFest music festival.
