Art disciplines: Drawing and painting, Mixed media

I am now working on Landscapes, while still painting from the Life Model and Jazz artists. Scenes include Devon coast, the woods, Skye, and other dramatic inspirational places. I prefer to sketch live from the landscape first, then use that plus photos to paint from. My emotional reaction is most important, and Turner’s phrase “I try to paint what it was like to be there” best describes what I aim for. Experimenting with different materials and marks (oils, pastels, watercolour & charcoal) is important, and gives ideas for creative expression.
