Art disciplines: Ceramics

This is Abigail’s first year with Open Studios. After a long time of “never having the time” Abigail has finally found the time to be able to focus on her life long passion. Ceramics. Working from her garden shed she predominately works with porcelain and throws a verity of functional domestic ware as well as decorative objects. She often uses the Mishima technique to create a strong monochrome pattern throughout her work. Opting for sleek lines and smooth silhouettes she uses underglaze to highlight patterns and simply clear glazes or leaves the qualities of the bare porcelain to be appreciated. Her work plays with finding and exploring symmetry within random patterns.
