Art disciplines: Drawing and painting

SLB is an outsider artist and former journalist. She founded MONK arts magazine which explores the relationship between consciousness, spirituality and creativity. After years of interviewing abstract painters, an artist friend suggested she started painting herself. She picked up a paintbrush and has never looked back. Her paintings are large, playful and energetic harmonisations of colour. In 2025 her first solo London show in Chelsea (titled The River Beneath the River) was very well received and a further solo show in Cornwall is planned for 2026.
For SLB painting has recovered a part of herself she had forgotten, non-verbal and childlike. The process is often playful, sometimes spiritual, always meaningful. She regards the mysterious shapes and blocks of colour formed in her abstraction as the language of the soul. She would love to show you her work.
