Public parks and walking in the countryside have always inspired me. Recently, in addition to these, I have begun to consider areas of less obvious immediate natural charm for inspiration; the ordinary, the overgrown and ignored places, rewilded land often passed by, sometimes neglected and abused but which can in a certain light or weather, still turn out to have their own distinctive beauty.
My paintings are a synthesis of observation, contemplation, sensation, experience, and vision of a particular place based on direct studies. I hope they will live long in a viewer's imagination and that any observer will always find something revealing in them gaining enough pleasure from them to want to look again and again. I would like to think that anyone viewing them would enjoy reflecting on their own relationship with nature through the scenes I paint, and will remeber them for a long time, as I do.
