I make domestic scale figurative pieces which poke at your imagination and hint at narrative. My aim is to catch figures mid-action, and I enjoy using ambiguity to set the creative side of a brain wandering. There’s storytelling going on, but it’s not just any story, it’s your story. Characters emerge from the clay; your creative brain does the rest.
Each piece is hand-built with a playful freedom that starts in my sketchbook. I apply surface imagery to a satin soft background, then incise and model the details. Pops of glaze and underglaze bring it all to life.
