Having trained as a production thrower, my love of using the wheel is always foremost in my work. I am showing a range of slip decorated, high fired earthenware forms which explore my love of the fluidity of traditional coloured slip decoration. The decoration of this soft surface is inspired by nature through photographs, found objects and drawings which combine with the language of thrown pots. I employ the traditional techniques of throwing and slip trailing to make my pieces in batches of the same form. In the case of bowls, this can take up to 5 days to complete before they can be dried and twice fired.
I also make a range of stoneware and earthenware garden pots and will be at my wheel during the opening hours of Open Studios which are 11-5pm on Saturdays and Sundays
