I discovered my passion for creating ceramics during lockdown when a friend invited me to “have a go”. I was not expecting what came next.
Hand-building has become my main focus incorporating pattern and print-making with organic shapes. This started with a piece of lace that held sentimental value. I often get inspiration from nature and fabrics. The excitement, possibility and surrender to each stage of the process is something I find calming, humbling and thrilling – it’s a heady mix!
A selection of my work went to Chelsea Flower Show in 2021 adorning Marnie Moyle’s award-winning eco exhibit. It is Marnie who gave the name Morfydd to my creative self. A reflection of my mermaid colours and love of all things Welsh (my husband above all!)
Pieces exhibited at Chelsea were well received and are all now in private collections.
I exhibited for the first time in November 2021 in West Ilsley where many pieces were sold and are now privately owned. I exhibited for a second time with the Ridgway Artists Collaborative this November .
I have also undertaken individual commissions.
I took my passion for ceramics into the workplace and facilitated weekly “clay club” sessions for colleagues as part of a well-being offering. I have also lead sessions with children and young adults with severe autism. The take up and enjoyment this provided was incredible.
I am broadening and developing my skills attending Oxfordshire Arts and I continue to spread the love of clay through wellbeing sessions.
