Jonathan Newey is an award winning artist who lives and works in Reading. His landscapes, painted mostly from his imagination, are an exploration of colour and texture and lead to an almost abstract or impressionistic quality where the contrast of light and dark is as important as the colour. He starts with small sketches done on paper and an iPad which enables him to explore colour combinations and composition, then works these sketches up into larger finished paintings using oil or acrylic.
