I'm developing two new themes this year to add to the Cloud Studio Collection.
An idea which has taken 55 years to materialise - better late than never - , has seen a series of clay pictures based on 'Hillside Villages' where the houses are crammed together often overlapping, often squeezed in. This started as an etching in my second year at Central St Martin's School of Art in London. They have recently been framed for me by a past student of mine, Laura Cranstoun. I think she's made a super job of them!
My second theme has been inspired by a visit to the house of Clough Williams - Ellis, the architect of Portmeirion. A Portmeirion pottery tile caught my eye there with its simple impressed design based on the division of a square, showing how it could be repeated in many ways. The result is a series of new black and white Pocket Vases which can be seen in my portfolio above.
