Helen has a keen interest in organic forms, which was nurtured during her biology degree (1990). In her paintings and drawings, she loves to use multiple layers, exploring the materials in an experimental way. This year she returns to Open Studios with a collection of her handmade artist books. The fascinating project evolved from a conversation with an artist friend last year. Helen was commissioned to make a book featuring some of her drawings of imaginary bird forms. The absorbing project has expanded into a larger body of work, combining the precision of a graphic design background with Helen’s joy of experimenting.
