Lizzie Perkins is a printmaker on top of the difficult medium of printing through cut-paper stencils. From an intricate line-drawing she extracts the details of textures and markings to be found in her subjects - particularly birds – by cutting a separate stencil for each colour. Through the mesh of a screen these colours are laid down in successive print runs until the image is complete. Accuracy and fidelity come first, movement follows, mood is an occasional gift but homage is a constant. In addition to regular exhibitions of her A3 and A2 originals her designs are also commercially published as greetings cards by RSPB, RLNI, Art Angels, Museums & Galleries and high-street retail.
