I work as a ceramic artist working from my home studio in Cold Ash. My work is available online and I also take commissions. Please email me for further information.
My work originates in the vessel form, mostly produced on the wheel, investing individual pieces with a sense of fluidity and energy. I find the gentle rhythmic nature of wheel work is both calming and meditative. Each piece is a ‘one-off’. The wheel work does not hide the maker’s work: The imperfections mark each piece out, imbuing character and spontaneity to the forms.
Ceramics have been around for millenia. Much of what we have learned about ancient cultures is derived from the fragments of pots which have been found. This tradition of making vessels for use and ornament makes for a language which communicates makers and their wares across time.
During Open Studios, I will be exhibiting as “Artists at the Chapel with Isabel Carmona, Christine Lack and Kate Steele. The Chapel will be open every weekend in May.
