Smoke and Fire Studio

Site Number: 79
Fauna and Flora garden sculpture. Student project.

Ceramic Artist Christine Lack’s Smoke & Fire studio and teaching workshop is based in Newbury and once again she is hosting an exhibition opening her workshop and garden close to the town centre.
Christine is exhibiting some of her own work and that of her students. The student exhibition highlights the variety of interests, inspirations and creativity developed in the workshops through the manipulation of clay, its glazes and finishes.

In the garden alongside some garden sculptures, there are a number of unique ‘Flora & Fauna Garden Sculptures’, created as a joint project by Christine and her students, proceeds from their sale will go to the BBOWT Wildlife Trust. Buy your raffle tickets at the exhibition for a chance to win one of the Flora & Flora sculptures, raffle will be held on Sunday 22nd May at 3.30pm
If you fancy being hands on with clay, come along and create a shape to add to our Totem pole.

As an experienced Newbury based Ceramic Artist / teacher of 30 years and an active member of West Berkshires Open Studio scheme, I offer regular ceramic workshops in my fully equipped studio throughout the year.

I welcome students of all levels (real beginners to those with previous experience) to join my small friendly ceramic workshops, where creativity and understanding of clay are encouraged through individual projects. I offer a number of day & weekend courses such as an Introduction to Smoke Firing and Raku Firing experience days new to 2022.
