Drawing and painting, Mixed media
Hoare Hill, Boxford, Acrylic on canvas

I started painting 5 years ago, having trained as a Jewellery Designer and ran a small business, making bespoke jewellery, using my previous name Gay Crichton-Miller. I've enjoyed being a member of Open Studios since 2000, and the opportunity to meet so many other artists and being able to visit other studios and exhibit.
For a number of years I attended Life Drawing classes, with Arran Miles, which introduced me to drawing and painting, and improved my observation skills, and encouraged me to experiment further with painting. I find Acrylics are the medium that I enjoy using and because I am a keen gardener I always find inspiration in the plants and flower that I grow, particularly tulips and irises. I've been experimenting a bit with abstract too and feel I want to work more in this direction aiming for a loser style by using bigger brushes and palette knives. I am on endless journey of discovery not sure where I am going but finding the whole process of painting hugely enjoyable and absorbing.
