Drawing and painting, Printmaking
Christchurch Meadows Lifecycle; Oil on Canvas; 1000mm x 1000mm mm

I aim to produce paintings which have longevity. My landscape paintings generally attempt to distill the experience, or sensation of a particular place. Someone once commented on a particular painting of mine as evoking ‘mindfulness’. I’m not quite sure what that means; perhaps a sense of calm and welbeing. However, I know what I’m searching for in each painting is a sustained, aesthetic resonance, which has at least the same longevity as the trees and natural world to which they refer. They draw on a wide range of subject matter, some of which involve views taken from nearby landscapes and parks, and riverside local to the studio. Contemplating a sense of place and colour relationships, through exploring such themes as:luminosity, mood, atmosphere, silhouettes and shadows. Some works include narrative elements. Some drawings and painted studies are developed into small handmade prints. Occasionally, studies are in acrylic, however the majority of paintings are created in oil paint, most of which are available as high quality Giclée prints on acid free, archive quality paper, in limited numbered editions at approximately: A3, A2, & A1 sizes, and larger on commission, mounted, framed or unframed. Any of these can be ordered by contacting me by email or phone. All paintings are available as cards. In addition, hand-made prints, using a variety of processes including lino cut and woodblock methods are available in small numbered editions.
