Ceramics, Sculpture
Chicks / Fired Ceramic / 16cm tall

I use clay to make figurative sculptures and illustrated vessels and am always looking for meaning in the random and irrelevant. In my current work I am having fun exploring character through pose, facial expression and sometimes text. I enjoy the suggestions of stories that develop and the dynamics within a group of figures. My intention is to draw you in, to make you smile, to fire your imagination. I have taught locally for many years, running the Art Department at Chiltern Edge School and the Ceramics Department at The Henley College for a while. My most recent post was in the Art department at St Bartholomew’s School in Newbury. I now spend most of my time in my studio creating commission pieces and work which I sell online, at craft fairs and through galleries such as New Ashgate Gallery in Farnham and New Brewery Arts in Cirencester.

September is a busy month for me. I’ve been working with Helen Long and Isabel Carmona to put together September Ceramics 2021 at City Arts Newbury (11th – 19th Sept). I’ll be showing my work there alongside a number of other Open Studio Ceramicists: Helen Long, Ursula Waechter, John Brazendale, Rebecca Maynard, Lone Hudson, Diana Pattenden, Cait Gould and Christine Lack. I’ll also be exhibiting later in the month with Newbury Art Collective (24th-26th Sept). The other Open Studios artist involved are: Isabel Carmona, Helen Long, Ben Honisett, Emma Green, Wendy Lloyd and John Brazendale. My studio will be open to the public as shown below and is also open by appointment throughout the year. Do contact me if you would like to come and look around or to talk to me about commissioning a piece.
