Artists at Adbury Holt
Kevin Akhurst, Caroline R K Brown, Miggie Bruce, Pamela Hardman, Rebecca Hedges
I make decorative and functional stoneware which is salt/soda-glazed in a wood-fired kiln. I am continuing to develop different vessel shapes by altering the form after throwing on a wheel. I like complex and dynamic surfaces and this year I am introducing more colour and surface design into my work. You will be able to see my kilns and workshop and I will demonstrate the techniques I use.

Drawing, Painting, Mixed media
Drawing is my first love. Nature constantly inspires me and informs my thinking practice. Utilising materials, media and layering allows me to create individuality in each piece. Exploring the versatility and combination of materials is a critical technique used in my studio to recreate the uniqueness of the world outside it.
Our native flora, lichens and fungi are an inspiration to me. Such wonderful shapes and subtle colours and if the fauna have had a nibble so much the better - it just makes everything more interesting. Leaves with a hole and fungi missing a bit - magic!

Drawing, Painting, Printmaking
Experimenting with multiple print methods within the same image to make unique prints I have been using collagraph, drypoint and blockprint as the main mediums. These are combined with various colour and monochrome techniques to achieve multi-layered prints. I shall be working in the garden studio again this year and also exhibiting at the West Berks Community Hospital Print Exhibition.
This year I have been inspired by the golden colours of this summer and autumn alongside the many shades of blue seen in the sea and lakes, creating from this both literal and impressionistic images. I am very happy once again to be showing my work at Adbury Holt, with such an inspiring variety of artists, and at the A Sense of Place exhibition at Sandham Memorial Chapel.
