The Printer, The Potter,
The Photographer, The Milliner
Drawing, Painting, Mixed media
Using life drawing as a base for experimenting with words, printed using wooden type blocks, working in a variety of mediums; paint, pastels, pencils, scraps of interesting paper. Will be joined, this year, by The Potter, The Photographer and The Milliner, exhibiting in the Bowls Pavilion and the Folly in the grounds of Stockcross House. Visitors can also have a look round the beautiful gardens. Refreshments will also be available.
My work moves between warm terracotta, durable stoneware to high fire porcelain for both domestic and decorative use. Most of my glazes are formulated in my studio to research possibilities. Capturing the malleability of the clay and letting glazes mix on the surfaces is a source of both frustration and wonderful surprise. Always searching for interesting pots.
Mixed media, Photography
I work mostly in black and white photography and I love the atmosphere of the darkroom. I am currently experimenting with ways of expressing the continuity of time, both with photos in series and in the single photographic image. As the thinking evolves, this enquiry may also include other media, including drawing and stitching.
I am delighted to be exhibiting at Stockcross House again where I will be showing a selection of my hats and headpieces. I design and create one off pieces that suit my client's style and personality. I enjoy using many different materials and love to find old hats, fabrics and trimmings to recycle into something new. This year I have also started teaching workshops.
