Arty's work combines images drawn with words heard in a variety of media; including life drawing and collage, printing using wooden type and anything else that will make a mark. Delighted to be exhibiting with The Potter and The Painter.
The exhibition is in the Bowls Pavilion in the grounds of
Stockcross House and visitors can also have a look round the beautiful gardens. Refreshments will also be available.
My work fluctuates between using warm terracotta to durable stoneware to high fire porcelain for both domestic and decorative use. The driver is experimentation providing solutions which can be used to develop techniques. Capturing the fluidity of the plastic clay and letting glazes mix on the surfaces is a source of both frustration and wonderful surprise.
Working mainly in oil, acrylic, pastel or charcoal, my work can take on any subject but is strongly influenced by life drawing and the love of the sea. Abstraction is something I aim for but I can get occasionally drawn back to a more retrospective approach, I’m constantly experimenting, aiming to achieve an image with high textural build using paint or collage.
